As a member of the consumer-facing team, I led the design development of the app and website. One major issue early on was the checkout flow.
Milkywire is a platform that connects grassroots organizations with donors.
As a member of the consumer-facing team, I led the design develop-ment of the app and website. One major issue early on was the checkout flow.
The old checkout flow in the app was clunky and unintuitive. Due to previous technical circumstances, the user had to leave the app and complete the card payment in a browser, thus resulting in an unacceptable drop off rate.
With the new design, users can now complete their payments directly within the app. A playful carousel component was added for a more engaging experience. Additionally, users have the flexibility to choose from a variety of payment options, including Apple Pay and PayPal (availability varies by market). Six weeks after implementation, the churn rate decreased by ~80%.
- Led and conducted qualitative user research (interviews, workshop) to identify pain points
- Designed a variety of design options in the form of wireframes and quick mockups
- Validated the decided design with user tests of a high-def prototype
- Documented specifications and maintained communication with the development team during development phase
